We, as fitness leaders, get bombarded with numerous questions regarding not only physical activity, but nutrition and wellness as well. This lecture is designed for group fitness instructos and personal trainers as a well-rounded, comprehensive introduction to nutrition as it relates to fitness and exercise. Let’s face it! Many/most fitness professionals are not doctors and can’t understand, nor pass on to clients, clinical, "above our head" impractical jargon. But we CAN understand this course with down to earth analogies we can all relate to.

Learn how to define metabolism and factors that influence it. Recognize human body types and characteristrics. Understand functions of the six essential nutrients and examples of each. Explain energy balance theory and calculate calories using grams. Relate importance of carbohydrates with aerobic/anaerobic conditioning. Identify fat/water soluble vitamins and the roles they play. Breifly describe thermogenesis in relation to exercise, food, and supplements. Know when to refer a client to a registered Dietition!
